Virgile ARAGAU started the flute at the age of seven with his father Xavier ARAGAU and in 2005 won the first flute prize at the National School of Music of Hay-Les-Roses.

He then studied with Benoit FROMANGER and obtained in 2006 the first prize of flute at the Regional Conservatory of Paris.

In 2007, he continued his studies with Pascale FEUVRIER and obtained the 1st prize of Excellence unanimously and the 1st prize of Perfectionnement unanimously at the Regional Radiation Conservatory of Rueil-Malmaison.

In 2009, he joined the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin in the class of Professor Benoit FROMANGER and in 2012 and 2016, he obtained respectively his degrees of License and Master with honors "sehr Gut".

During his studies, he worked on orchestral competitions with Markus SCHREITER (Piccolo Solo, R.S.B) and Simone VAN DER VELDE (Piccolo Solo, Staatskapelle, Berlin).

In addition to his musical studies, he is hired as solo flute of the Mannheimer Philharmoniker.

In 2012, he joined for two years the orchestra academy of the Staatskapelle Berlin, mentored by solo flutist Claudia STEIN, which allows him to play regularly in this training as solo flute, second flute and solo piccolo under the direction of prestigious conductors such as Daniel BARENBOÏM, Zubin METHA, Sir Simon RATTLE, Daniel HARDING, etc. He is invited as solo flute by the Frankfurt-am-Main opera orchestra under the direction of S.WEIGLE and B. DE BILLY, as well as by the orchestra of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Hamburg under the direction K. URBANSKI, J. VALCUHA and M. NESTEROWICZ.

Virgile ARAGAU is currently the Principal Flute of the Marseille Opera Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Lawrence FOSTER.

Since the year 2016, Virgile ARAGAU performs as soloist with the Marseille Opera Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Lawrence FOSTER at the 30th Bad Kissingen Music Festival (Kissinger Sommer-International Musikfestival) and the SILO of Marseille, as well as with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ruse (Bulgaria) under the direction of Jean-Yves GAUDIN.

On the other hand, he is regularly invited to Japan to play solo and chamber music in prestigious venues such as Tokyo Suntory Hall and Tokyo Opera City Recital Hall.

In 2018, he is one of the six founders of the ensemble LA FRESQUE, a team composed with fifteen musicians from famous orchestra in Paris. This ensemble is in residence at the Singer-Polignac Foundation of Banque Populaire.

In parallel, Virgile ARAGAU is willing to share the teaching of his masters, acquired over the years, so he gives many "master classes" and participates in several academies in France and Japan. In July 2019, he is invited to the jury of the International Flute Competition in Cluj, Romania.
